Alaina’s journey at a glance

At 17 years old, Alaina left her home in Riyadh on her own, without family support around her, to pursue engineering studies in Delhi.

She later relocated to Sydney, completed her Master’s degree at UNSW, and built an entirely new life from the ground up while balancing work and study.

She was placed by BLU into a Product Engineer role at BOC, the role she had been working toward for years.

A journey built on courage

When Alaina was seventeen years old, she made a decision that most adults would find daunting. She left Riyadh without a safety net and moved to Delhi to begin studying engineering. It was a bold move, and it was only the beginning. Years later she relocated again, this time to Sydney, where she enrolled at the University of New South Wales and completed her Master’s degree while working to support herself and continuing to lay the foundations of the career she had always wanted.

There were no shortcuts along the way. Alaina navigated the challenges that come with leaving your country, building a new life and trying to establish yourself professionally in a place where you have no existing network. Through all of it, she remained focused on where she was going.

That kind of determination is rare. And when Anna Hogan first began working with Alaina, she could see it immediately.
